Allen K. Neighbors:

On 5 December 1955, 20 January 1958, and again, on 14 August 1961, I took this oath of enlistment:

“I, Allen K. Neighbors, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America; that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies whomsoever; and that I will obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

(The wording of the oath was changed by congress in 1962)

In August 1964, and several times during consecutive re-enlistments through the 1970s I took this oath:

“I, Allen K. Neighbors, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

I served in Vietnam in 1965-66, based in Phan Thiet, Dalat, and Vo Dat, and again, during all of 1971 based at Bong San (LZ English) and Hue Phu Bai. I retired from active duty on 31 August 1978.

Since 1978, I have noticed more and more of our liberties being shoved aside under numerous illegal edicts of the government that we as voters keep putting into office. The government has forgotten its place.

I get so tired of hearing people (including our legislators) refer to this country as a Democratic Nation. For many years now, the people of this nation have been so dumbed-down – everyone, up to and including our traitorous Legislators – …so dumbed-down that they don’t even know what our system of government really is. That has been the goal of Socialists and other powers-that-be, including the NEA and other entities that have anything to do with our school systems, for years. It has been their intent to fundamentally change this nation into a Socialist nation from the get-go, and the bastards will succeed if We the People don’t pull our heads out of our butts, and stand up for liberty.

Article VI of the Constitution requires the oath of office, and very few even know what it says. Too few Oath Takers take the time to read and study the document they swear to support and defend. The oath requires support and defense of the Constitution- not the president, not the country, not the flag, and not a particular military service. The Constitution of the United States.

We are not a Democratic Nation. The only thing Democratic about this nation is the way in which we elect the people in our government. That is all. Everything else about this Nation is Republican (whether anyone likes the use of the word, or not).

The United States of America is a Republic. A Constitutional Republic. The Constitution of the Republic of the United States is our Rule of Law. And that means that every law that is not in accordance with the Constitution is illegal.  Everyone that doesn’t know that needs to read it. There is a whale of a difference between a Democratic nation and a Constitutional Republic. If you want to remain free, you need to find out what that difference is all about.

Our forefathers fought and bled during the American Revolution to establish this nation as a Constitutional Republic, so there could be no dictators or kings or anything of the sort, ever in power in this nation to take away your liberties.

Several times, I retook my oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. Every elected official in our State governments and our Federal government, everyone in the military, and all police forces, also swore oath to the Constitution. My oath has never expired, and will not expire until I do. Unlike 90% of our elected officials, I know the document that I swore the oath to. I understand that the Constitution is my written guarantee for the unalienable liberties that are mine just because I am a human being. It is my written guarantee of liberty.

Today, our children don’t even know the meaning of liberty. They think that liberty is just the same as freedom. But freedom, by itself, means that you are free to do anything you want to do, up to and including encroaching on my freedoms, if you’re big enough. That’s what freedom means in a Democratic Society, but that’s not liberty.

In our Constitutional Republic there must be morality plus freedom in order to have true liberty. Because your freedoms end where mine begins, and vice-versa. In a Constitutional Republic there is also morality included with that freedom. That is what it meant to the framers of the Constitution, and that is what it means today. That’s Liberty.

Read the Constitution. Then read the Federalist Papers, so you will know and understand what the Constitution really means. Because the Federalist Papers explains the wording of the Constitution as the framers intended. Learn it, and then stand up and be counted – for liberty. Why?

Because, besides not understanding the Constitution they swore to defend, something else that the elected individuals in our federal government don’t understand is this: If they don’t pull their heads out of their butts, and get back to governing in accordance with the Constitution, there will one day be another revolution in this Republic of the United States of America. And it will be the bloodiest, most protracted war that any American has ever seen or fought in. And we don’t want our children or our children’s children to be involved in that sort of tragedy.

The Declaration of Independence concludes with this statement by the first American Patriots: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred Honor.” American Patriots still do.
