If You Ain’t Got Comms, You Ain’t Got Jack!  Got Comms?

THERE IS STILL TIME TO REGISTER.  Attend our free webinar on Emergency Communications & EMP Protection tonight, Monday, October 24th at 8:00 PM Central Time and get 10% off of merchandise* in our store and 10% off of new memberships. Registration is limited, so please sign up now.

How will you communicate without the internet or phones?  How will you communicate after an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event?

Join us tonight, Monday, October 24, for this special webinar.  Oath Keepers communications experts will present critical information on what Americans must do to have emergency grid-down (no internet, no cell, no power) emergency communications for their family, their neighborhood, and their community. We’ll also teach you to what you must do to protect your critical electronics against the threat of electromagnetic pulse (EMP).  We will also have questions and answer periods for each topic.

This webinar is open to the public, so please repost and invite your friends.   If you have any trouble registering, please email info@oathkeepers.org and we’ll send you an invitation by email.

UPDATE 10/22/2016:  As we have all seen in the past few days, the internet is vulnerable to disruption, and the threat of an EMP event (either man-made or natural) is a very serious reality that we need to address. The U.S. government has intentionally failed in its obligation to prepare the American people, so we must do it ourselves. Let’s get our emergency communications and EMP countermeasures squared away.

This is a first in a series of critical public webinars we will hold to help get the American people ready. We will also have future webinars that are for Oath Keepers members only, however, as made clear in our Community Preparedness Team  (CPT) program, we have a duty to help the American people become prepared, united, and strong again – and we will.

I just got the email on the webinar and it appears that the limited number of participants has been reached as I can’t access the site now snd it was only about 20 minutes after the email went out,so I would ask maybe have another one done and/or a replay ? I would like to be able to hear what is said.

Could I hear it from some one that really knows, what kind of two way radio do you recommend? And if I purchased several what would be the best way to tune them into one and other, which ones have the longest distance in an urban setting? I think you all have got a good idea of what I need for an area team, your help would be appreciated. Dollars do count, Am planning a trip south very soon to check our long range shooting.

I have been in mountainous terrain as a SSG in Search and Rescue as a radio transmission officer and I am a registered FCC liscensed HAM. Baofeng or Wuoxon radios for $40 to $100 and they work great for the money with plenty of accessories for any situation. Power is nice but understanding repeaters and proper antennas is important too. I have real world disaster experience on 2 meters and can tell you flat out that without amplifiers and different antennas like eggbeater and yaggi antennas being properly deployed your range will be limited to line of sight or less also consider box beam antennas and jpoles. There’s a lot to learn and I suggest you get your technician liscense and hang out with a good HAM who can Elmer you to a higher understanding of this complex and wonderful hobby

My internet service options are very limited and pitiful once you select one. Coul you possibly produce a narrative and post it, or sell it as a hardcopy pamphlet?

I had unexpected company and didn’t get to join the webiner until the last 30 minutes, I was wondering if the webiner would be on u-tube at a later date, or if it would repeat or have a sound version only ? I really enjoyed the 30 minutes of it that I got to attend . Thank You

Only listen to the end of Mary’s presentation on EMP. The first part by Paul was ok but think it should have been gear more to people that can not afford the high cost equipment , that’s why with our patriot group here in SC. as the comms coordinator we have focus on our people getting at lease a technician license then to start a Baofeng radio, I have use on in my work car for years, with a mag mount antenna and can hit the local repeaters with no problem they are good radios with a simple wire j pole in there to go bag.despite what many try to say about them, high price will not mean better radios. My take is that most people are looking for information on setting up a simple set up that will not cost a lot.
I am a General Ham and do have a good set up because I have been bless with the ability to do so, my 2 meter set up consist of a 60 foot tower with two Yagi beam antennas co phase together and a Omni directional. I can hit most of the repeaters in the state and even some out of state, talk simplex about 70 miles to date ,( base to base) have not been able to test more distance yet. My base is a Yaesu radio, great radio, my HF consist of a dipole at 45 ft. and also a Yaesu radio, distance depends on band conditions . antennas are everything.
EMP lots of information out there is none that has been tested or proving, best to try something still.

I am an Emergency Comms trained ham. I enjoyed the webinar last evening.
NVIS was missing, as I used it often in PA to get a HF shot to Harrisburg on 80 meters, when ground wave was a bit to far.
I am currently moving out of Kommunistfornia and heading back to Pennsylvania.
Would love to know if any 2 meter or 70cm simplex frequencies are allocated for truckers/members?

NVIS will be covered in future presentations.
I moved from PA to CO and while there are not ham frequencies dedicated to truckers/members there are the national simplex frequencies, especially 146.520, you can try while travelling.

The repeaterbook.com is also very useful as you can select repeaters by major highway and/or wide-area coverage and pre-load these into your radio for the trip. They also have an app (who doesn’t these days) and that will show repeaters closest to you.
