First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas

First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas

Oath Keepers was requested by leaders of First Baptist Church to help with the tragedy. A small group of volunteer Oath Keepers are assessing the situation, assisting with security and beginning to formulate training plans to help church congregations protect themselves from this kind of attack in the future.

Some of our followers and members have asked what we are doing here and what we are guarding against. As expected, the media is out in full force. We are here to help ensure the victims’ families, congregation and the town are left to grieve in peace. We are here to help prevent a copy-cat incident. We are here to provide peace of mind that they are protected from any more acts of evil. Oath Keepers have also found themselves pressed into other duties as well, and we have been a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on for this small tightly knit community.

The First Baptist Church was cleaned up and painted as a memorial to twenty six members of the congregation. Each chair represents a church member and where they were sitting on Sunday, November 5th. The memorial was opened to families at 5 PM on Sunday, November 12th. The memorial is scheduled to be open all week.

May the Spirit of the Lord continue to nourish the hearts of the faithful, and help all to find a way through the grief and pain of such a loss. Blessings to the honorable protectors willing to stand up for those who are left to mourn.

Question: Was the church a “gun free zone”, that is did the minister or someone else tell the congregation “no concealed weapons” ? That will answer the question of why no one shot back at the shooter.
If the answer is “yes” then there seems to be some responsibility that needs to rest upon the members, especially the minister and other leaders for allowing their rights to be compromised including their right to remain alive and to defend themselves.
The shooter was an former member and apparently attended recently. He had to know this fact one way or the other.
The lesson to be learned is to not submit to the tyranny of “gun free zones”. If you ask for trouble it will eventually come your way.

All law enforcement agencies like police, sheriff depts., state troopers, and FBI need to cooperate completely and immediately with each other about problem people, dangerous people, and mentally unstable people. Every state needs to have concealed carry and have no gun-free zones.

Praise and thank God for Oath Keepers!!!
What a tremendous witness, testimony and Christ-ed example you set!
I haven’t a lot to spare at present, but am only too happy and proud to back and support your efforts by making a donation as I am able.
Because of your supportive presence there, I pray that these dear, traumatized folks may yet be able to attain to greater Peace, and even enjoy some small measure of celebration this Thanksgiving Day. Heaven Bless and be with you all! Carol Asher, No. Central Idaho

Thank you for helping out with security. Our family is happy to report we had no confrontations before, or during the funeral of our daughter Crystal Holcombe, our unborn grandchild Carlin Brite Holcombe, our grandson Greg Hill, and our granddaughters Emily & Megan Hill. We weren’t aware that Oath Keepers was involve, but know that you are appreciated. We appreciate all that you do, including, but not limited to, the services you have provided for the Bundy & Hammond families.
