Chicago Homicides Demonstrate the Only Result of ‘Gun Control’ is Citizen Disarmament

When was the last time a “warm day” turned you homicidal? Is it possible we’re being manipulated to look everywhere for answers but where they are?

“Chicago police believe a teenage gang member shot and killed four men at a South Side restaurant last week to avenge the fatal shooting of his father a few blocks away the previous night,” the Chicago Tribune reports. “The quadruple homicide was among seven killings in the South Shore neighborhood on March 30…”

“The shooting of [the father] was part of an ongoing conflict between factions of the Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones gangs,” the Chicago Sun-Times adds.

And as for the slain father…?

“The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.”

Would it be … untactful … to speculate on the net effect on society had the continued activities of all involved not been so abruptly brought to a halt?

And the Chicago underworld has not been idle since that incident.  Case in point, here’s what happened over the weekend:

“7 Killed, 28 Wounded In Weekend Shootings.” CBS Chicago reports. “More than 815 people have been shot in the city so far this year, according to Chicago Sun-Times data.”

And this, we’re told, is a “good” year:

Despite the recent string of shootings, crime is actually down in some of Chicago’s most violent neighborhoods … Overall, shootings are down 13-percent.

That’s despite bizarre recent headlines like:

Father Kills Son in Shootout Over Who Would Walk Dog

And outrages that prove no one is safe, like:

Cook County Judge Killed, Woman Wounded in South Side Shooting

It’s also despite anti-gun claptrap from domestic enemies like “Snuffy” Pfleger, claiming worse-than-useless absurdities like “gun turn-ins” are just the ticket to domestic tranquility. That and blaming peaceable Americans who have proven themselves more than trustworthy of being fully enfranchised with their right to keep and bear arms – and for that matter, to decide without incident who walks the family dog…

“If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers,” novelist Thomas Pynchon wrote in “Gravity’s Rainbow.” And that’s apparent in the way blame is being apportioned everywhere except where it belongs.

If you reject such “progressive” diversionary tactics, you risk being labeled a racist, even though the daily killings reflect mass self-destruction more than anything else, “BlackLivesMatter” notwithstanding. So is it really what the race-hustlers would have us believe, that the dysfunctioning is because of institutionalized racism? Hey, it’s not the Klan doing the drive-bys.

So is it “poverty”? Plenty of people made it through actual poverty, like the Great Depression, with their sense of morality and work ethic intact, and without the abundance of modern welfare programs that exist today.

Is it lack of educational opportunities? Every child gets a “free” education through high school – it’s up to them whether or not they take advantage of it and pay attention. Per capita student spending for the Chicago School District, both instructional and operational, is higher for the district than it is for the state. The school superintendents and Chicago Teachers Union head Karen Lewis ain’t doing too shabby either.

Is it, as “community activist” Ja’mal Green maintains, that “there is so much pain in Chicago’s troubled neighborhoods that even the most trivial interactions can explode”? Plenty of us have experienced life-altering pain and not seen fit to react by inflicting it on others.

How much of that “pain” can be attributed to poor individual choices? Starting with the types of unsavory characters that are disproportionately predominant role models?

And who has primary responsibility for imparting the proper lessons for young people to imprint off of? Could the astoundingly high rate of births given by unequipped single mothers in the black community play a role? And is there anyone of procreating age not in a vegetative state — in any community — who doesn’t know how babies are made?

Is there a connection between people abdicating increased responsibility for their lives to the state, and the enabling of bad behaviors such surrender makes inevitable? Is “freedom” without responsibility even possible? How much more “progressive” experimentation do we need to see play out in America’s cities before it becomes permissible to identify the real elephant in the room, that rampant violent crime within urban demographics is an indicator of populations most directly affected by and responsive to a continuing history of destructive control policies?

If we’re afraid to even address this, we’re never going to be able to make things right. And those hurt the most by this self-imposed blindness will continue to be the least prosperous and protected among us. They’re the ones who, perversely, are being defrauded by those they believe to be their “leaders” to demand more of the same.

The killings among the criminal element will continue, and the “law-abiding” will continue to vote for opportunistic political parasites with a dependency and disarmament agenda.

And those doing the swindling won’t be content to confine their victims to places like Chicago.
