How to Build a Raised Garden Bed with Wood

Raised bed gardening is very easy. In areas with poor soils, it will be necessary to create your own better soil, by mixing some of your soil with bags full of gardening soil and some compost and manure. It is a good idea for you to begin composting, also.

Rich soil is the key to gardening. I prefer organic gardening, and use only organic fertilizers and Heirloom seeds. Heirloom seeds give me the opportunity to save the seeds from my garden produce and use them for next years crop. Hybrid or GMO seeds are a one time use.

A fence surrounding your raised beds will keep most pests out; like dogs. cats, deer and rabbits. Wire fence 5′ tall is optimal, particularly for deer. Where I live, there are lots of hungry deer.

This video shows how to build raised beds. He used all new lumber, but you can always use scrap lumber you may have available.
